Stranger Things is set to receive a new video game adaptation based on events in the upcoming third season.

Show creators Matt and Ross Duffer announced the new title at The Game Awards, which was described as an ‘action adventure RPG that pays homage to the 16-bit era’.

The game is being developed by BonusXP who previously released the Stranger Things mobile game, and looks to be largely reminiscent of that title with upgraded visuals.

The trailer itself shows you play as Jim Hopper and Steve Harrington in a classic arcade style beat-em-up, as you collect coins before fleeing into an actual arcade.

Stranger Things 3 The Game was announced to be coming to ‘all platforms’ with the teaser pointing towards a summer 2019 release date – presumably to coincide with the third season of the show.

The third season of Stranger Things is set to shake-up the formula somewhat, switching to a summer 1985 time period with recent teasers revolved around Starcourt Mall.

Stranger Things 3 The Game is expected to arrive in summer 2019.
