Towards the end of July and the beginning of August, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9
dominated smartphone leaks. This was then followed up by a short period led by Google’s Pixel 3 XL
. This week, though, it appears to be the turn of Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro, as demonstrated by yet another leak.
Following a sneaky appearance at IFA
2018 earlier this week, Huawei’s latest flagship smartphone has now been photographed from the front. Unfortunately, the device is protected by a rather large case that conceals certain design details such as the exact size and shape of the device. Nevertheless, the large 6.9-inch curved AMOLED display can still be seen in all its glory, as can the relatively large notch towards the top. Speaking of which, this is home to a front-facing 24-megapixel camera, an in-ear speaker, and a new 3D face recognition technology that is expected to rival Apple’s Face ID
, which itself debuted just under a year ago.
Aside from the smartphone’s design, the images also provide a bit of a glimpse at the updated lock screen that can be found within Huawei’s latest software, the EMUI 9.0 custom overlay that is based on Android 9 Pie
. Additionally, a look at the new settings menu is provided too and, upon inspection of this, references that indicate the presence of 128GB of storage can be seen.
As mentioned multiple times before, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will make its international debut in London on October 16
where it will be accompanied by the smaller Mate 20. The Chinese brand is then expected to open up a pre-order period that will precede official shipments a few weeks later.
