I had read somewhere that the earlier trailers of Red Dead Redemption II were running on a baseline PlayStation 4 and the latest gameplay footage looks unsurprisingly amazing. I just wish they would say clearly which system they captured the footage from. Why won’t they just be openly honest? I’m sold on the game already, it’d just be nice to know.

I do have some gripes/concerns however, with various characters going about their lives, etc. Will it be possible to miss out on any missions in any way? Locking yourself out of a mission due to choices is one thing but not being in the right place at the right time, I won’t have time to play through this game twice and I expect this game to be on par if not bigger than The Witcher 3. But when I do play I want to immerse myself in the game and complete it 100%.

This is one thing Detroit: Become Human does well in that it shows you your choices in a timeline and what other outcomes there potentially are. I wish more games did this or a better method is if we do a New Game+ playthrough, highlight/grey out the choice made previously in a dialogue option, for example, so we’re more likely to select a different dialogue option.

Another issue is with how Red Dead Redemption II is being sold. The special edition has extra story/gameplay content which is 50% (£25 difference on ShopTo) more expensive than the standard edition?! That’s firstly outrageously expensive, secondly only having early access or exclusive items is fine. I do take issue with story content being withheld in any way. How about throwing in an art book and soundtrack CD as well as a nice smelling manual and map?

I understand this game cost way more than the average and I do believe they should, and in all likelihood, will make a significant return on their investment. But I draw the line at paying for some shareholder’s 24ct gold jet ski.

I personally will be waiting for the game to come down to a price which is more reasonable and I will have plenty of other games to play in the meantime.

PS: Here’s a code for Spider-Man: Homecoming in exchange for some reader giving a useable letter. Although I have to warn you it may not work because even though I bought a new Blu-ray it wasn’t sealed.
Currently playing: Still nothing.
Want to buy/play: Sonic Mania Plus DLC, Shenmue I & II HD, God Of War, Spider-Man, Valkyria Chronicles 4, Red Dead Redemption II, Resident Evil 2 remake, Shenmue III, and Ghost Of Tsushima.

GC: Rockstar has tried to imply the extra special edition content is fairly trivial, story-wise. If it’s like any other DLC ever released we’re sure it won’t amount to much. Thanks very much for the code though, we’ll pass it along as you suggest.
