Halo Infinite – no Battle Royale for Master Chief?

The makers of Halo aren’t planning to have Battle Royale in Halo Infinite, despite Call Of Duty and Battlefield jumping on the bandwagon.

Tempest 4000Game review: Tempest 4000 is a classic you can’t keep down

It may have been one of the biggest reveals at E3 last month but the fact is nobody really knows what Halo Infinite is, when it’ll be released, or even on what formats.

Many suspect it will be a launch title for Microsoft’s next Xbox console, while the name itself implies a games as a service title and what little was shown suggests a game world much larger than any of the previous entries.

Others though think it’s just a way of avoiding calling it Halo 6, and that while it will try to address fan dissatisfaction with the last two games it will still be a direct sequel in all but name.

It may be a while till we find out for sure but what we do know is that it won’t feature a Battle Royale mode, at least not according to 343 Industries writer Jeff ‘GrimBrother One’ Easterling.

Easterling was taking part in the Mixer stream above, when at around the 56 minute mark he answered a question from a fan about whether Halo Infinite would have Battle Royale or not.

‘I’ll tell you right now, the only BR we’re really interested in is Battle Rifle’, said Easterling, in a reference to one of the most iconic Halo weapons. ‘So the original BR. So calm yourself.’

As a writer you wouldn’t have thought this would necessarily be his area, but he seems pretty adamant about it.

The more recent Halo games have been criticised before for chasing industry trends, so the uncertain longevity of the current Battle Royale craze may have put 343 off.

It hasn’t deterred Acitvision or EA though, both of who have Battle Royale modes planned for Call Of Duty and Battlefield, respectively.
